December Post- "Secrets to Healthy Holiday Eating"
As most of us know all too well, trying to eat healthy during the holidays is a tricky task. It’s easy to over-indulge with so many tasty treats around. The article discusses healthy holiday eating from Thanksgiving Day to New Year in the U.S. It states that American adult gain five to eight pounds in the short interval of holiday season which could be a healthy-eating disaster. It offers tips for a healthy-eating progress including file up on fiber foods, control food microenvironment and zero out skippable choices. This article has been my favorite source for the past month, it gave me really good tips that I was actually able to follow during the holidays.

November Blog
For this past month I have been drinking this protein shake after every workout. My mentor actually recommended this drink because it does not contain any sugar, oils, or artificial flavors. It is also a healthy choice, it has all the right nutrition's that a protein shake should have and it's gluten free. It is highly recommended to drink a protein shake within an hour after working out to fuel muscle growth. The theory of this is that proper protein timing leads to bigger long-term gains in strength and lean body mass.

Blog 11- EQ
1. I reviewed the rule of three for writing an EQ.
2.
a. What is the most important factor in healthy weight loss?
I think it does meet the rule of three criteria because you can find more research on this topic and it is not a yes/no question. It allows you to argue a point because there are plenty ways to lose weight. The wording makes sense and there is no extra words that are just there.
b. What is most important to securing a conviction in a criminal investigation?
This EQ meets the rule of three because there isn't one answer to the question, one can research criminal convictions to answer the question, and the question makes sense.
c. What is most important in creating a hairstyle that best satisfies a customer?
I do not think this EQ meets the rule of three because it does not really provide a framework for studies. there is not much research you can do on this topic, it is more of an opinion. You can argue a point but that wont really matter because every customer is different.
d. How can an anesthesiologist best treat chronic pain?
This EQ meets the three criteria because it calls for research of medical articles, is not a yes or no question because there are many answers and the question is formatted in a way where you know what it's asking.
3. EQ Draft: What is the most efficient way to live a healthy/fit life?

What I'm most proud of is that I remembered my information and I made time. I knew my information but since I was nervous I thought that I wouldn't remember.
2. Questions to Consider
a.What assessment would you give yourself on your Lesson 1 Presentation (self-assessment)?
AE P AP CR NC
b. Explain why you deserve that grade using evidence from the Lesson 1 component contract.
The reason that I feel that I deserve a "P" because I covered all the points that were on the contract and I made time.
3. What worked for you in your Lesson 1?
What worked was showing my personal workout plan, the different exercises and how the meals should be eaten in portions.
4. (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 1?
What I would do differently is not freakout as much and try to stay calm.

October Personal Workout Plan
For the month of October I was given this calendar by my mentor. Basically it tells me what I'm suppose to do each day. "PT" stands for my workout sessions with my mentor, which are on Mondays and Wednesdays. The other days are my independent component days, except for Saturdays and Sundays. On the top left right below where my name is located, my goals for this
month are written there which are Primary-Strength and gain muscle,
Secondary-Tone overall muscle, and nutrition-eat more protein 3 meals, 3
snacks. I really enjoyed working with my mentor this month. She is really nice and helpful with my senior topic. I'm really glad to have her as my mentor. I feel like she has help me not only on my project but also with my fitness goals as well.

Nutrition Guidelines
My personal trainer (mentor) Brenda Prokop gave me informational papers to help me gain knowledge on my nutrition. On one of the papers "Key facts for each food groups" it talks about the food groups like proteins, dairy, grains, etc. It tells you what variety of foods that you should be eating and it also gives you tips on which foods should be replaced and avoid. For example, it says protein foods with high solid fat should be replaced with the ones that are low in solid fats and calories. The second paper "Healthy Nutrition Guidelines", it gives you tips on how to balance calories, which foods to increase/decrease, and how to design a plan that will help you eat healthier and better. I found this papers very useful, because now I can give my body a better nutrition that will help it function better. By following this guidelines it will help me get better results on my training.

Blog 5 - Mentorship Reflection
1. Mentorship question: Describe your experience in how you found your mentorship? If you haven't found one yet, describe your experience so far in the search of a mentor.
I actually changed my senior topic the second week of school to fitness, since than I have been doing a lot of research on where I could do my mentorship at. I decided that the best place to do it was at a gym, so I singed up for a membership at the 24 Hour Fitness Center, in the City of Industry. While applying for my membership I met one of the managers Kyle, whom was really nice and is helping me get a personal trainer to be my mentor for my project. At this point I'm just waiting for his call.
2. Research question: What has been your most important
article you have read so far and why?
The most important article I have read so far is from Rock Hard Nutrition by Stiefel, Steven. This article contains a lot of information about what is the right nutrition to eat on your workout days and rest days. It teaches you the amount of calories a person should be getting depending on how much they weight. It also gives you tips on how to build muscle and lose body fat, by showing you different workouts that you could do. I find this article very helpful because it has thought me the basics on how the body works and the benefits of a living a healthier life

New Mentorship
I recently changed my topic from Pediatric Nursing to Fitness. I made this decision because I thought it'll be more enticing for me to do my project on something that I'm really passionate about. I love working out and eating the right nutrients. I saw this as a great opportunity to convince my mom to get me a membership at the gym and also a personal trainer.I recently became a member at the gym this past week, the manager Kyle gave me a tour around the gym. He also showed me how to use the equipment and where the personal trainers work with their students. The manager is going to assign me a personal trainer that will be able to help me through the year with tips and helping me lose weight and tone-up. He was really nice and he told me if I ever have any questions whether is about the gym or my project to go ahead and find him. I will be doing my mentorship at the 24 Hour Fitness Center, at City of Industry.

The most important thing I gained from this experience was seeing how the nurses and doctors would interact with their patients and parents. 5. What is your senior project topic going to be? How did what you did help you choose a topic?
My senior topic is going to be on Pediatrics. I originally wanted to do my senior topic on Pediatric Oncologist since I plan to peruse that as my future career , but unfortunately I wasn't able to find a place to mentoship at, so I decided to do it on Pediatrics since is the next closets thing on helping young patients with their health conditions. Doing my mentorship at Chino pediatric Medical Group helped me determine my senior topic because I was able to work with the nurses and doctor to gain some what experience on how to be able to help sick kids and I really enjoyed working with their medical group.
